Short Bio

Essam Rashed received his Ph.D. (Eng.) in Computer Science from the University of Tsukuba, Japan. He was a JSPS Research Fellow at the University of Tsukuba. He served as Assistant/Associate/Full Professor of Computer Science at Suez Canal University, Egypt. He was a research Professor at Nagoya Institute of Technology, Japan. Currently, he is a Professor at the Graduate School of Information Science, University of Hyogo, Japan. His research interests include medical image processing, data science, artificial intelligence and pattern recognition. Dr. Rashed is IEEE Senior Member, Editorial Board member of Physics in Medicine and Biology, and the General Chair of IEEE FMLDS 2026. In 2024, he was a recipient of the Commendation for Science and Technology by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (Development Category), Japan. He participated as a PI and CoI for several external funded projects.
